FALL: Pumpkin Unit

It’s Pumpkin Season! Children have fun engaging and participating in activities all aligned with the core theme of pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! This unit includes more than 60 pages of 16 activities which could easily be expanded and differentiated to cover a week’s lesson plan or even a month!

Music & movement, motor imitation, receptive & expressive language, independent & social play, matching, counting, sequencing, sorting, patterning…. and MORE!

General Pumpkin Themed Activities as well as lessons aligning with the following children’s stories:

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin by Jonathan London

Pumpkin Day! by Candice Ransom

It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff

Roll Away Pumpkin by Julia Wonders & Daniela Volpari

The goal is actively engaged learners within the context of meaningful activities well matched to their developmental levels, strengths, needs, interests & preferences!

While many of the activities can be presented and facilitated in a way which focuses on independent work tasks, our primary goal in sharing these materials is to advocate for and support educators and therapists in facilitating more social interactions, scaffolding social language & social behaviors through naturalistic interventions and play based learning experiences.

You will find idea cards with the activities outlining how to “Make it Social!” by making small changes in the way you present & facilitate which can result in big outcomes.

Let’s all work together to provide more equitable access to fun in learning for our *disabled students.

This curriculum is accessible and appropriate for disabled as well as non-disabled students. Remember, it’s not WHAT you do, it’s HOW you do it!

Have fun….. we can almost smell those delicious pumpkin pie from here!
